After the Tea Party©
Our Common History
When the people of Boston grew tired of tyranny and abuse they supported the Boston Tea Party of 1773. When the party was over, the tyrannical party in power increased their oppression of Bostonians. In response, colonists stopped buying tea and other British imported products. John Adams himself joined in the resistance and stopped drinking tea. The colonists resisted British tyranny in every possible way. Three years later, colonial leaders meeting in Philadelphia signed the Declaration of Independence and threw off the rule of the British Parliament.
In 2009 millions of American supported protests called tea parties across the land. These protests, however, are not enough to enact true constitutional reforms in America. What is the next step? In the best tradition of American liberty it is once again time for a unified national resistance. This time Americans must rise up together and bring constitutional accountability to the United States Congress.
Accountability to Congress? How on earth can citizens do that?
The formula is really quite simple. Americans refuse to support any member of Congress – until such time as that member proves their commitment to the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution as amended. The operative word in this formula is: proves. It is insufficient for any member of Congress to justify their positions solely on political affiliation. Prior voting record may be helpful but alone will not suffice. Labels such as "conservative" or "liberal" are not enough.
How will the resistance work?
- All Americans who care about the future of the nation are urged to secure and read a copy of the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. A free online copy is available at www.aproundtable.org.
- From the date of July 4th, 2009, all Americans are urged to withdraw any form of support (other than prayer) from all members of Congress. This shall continue until such time as a member proves his/her genuine commitment to the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution as amended. Criteria will include public statements and most importantly votes in Congress. Party affiliation is not considered as valid criteria.
- MoveOutCongress.com and The Liberty Committee (an independent federal PAC) will publish a monthly update to let all Americans know which members of Congress have attempted to meet the above criteria. Citizens alone can decide for themselves if members of Congress have proven themselves worth of future support.
- The American Policy Roundtable and Roundtable Freedom Forum will host a series of events and media projects around the nation to encourage citizen leadership in MoveOutCongress.org.
That's it. The plan is simple and clear. Withdraw support for every member of Congress until they prove themselves worthy of your support. This is your right as an American. More than a right, this is our duty. Now is the time for all good men and women to put on their work clothes and come to the aid of their country - and fast.
Here is how to get started:
- Download and read your copy of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution or order your print copy online.
- Send your members of Congress their Termination Notices today. Hard copies go to district offices. Email versions go to DC offices.
- Order your Move out Congress.com materials today and display them everywhere you go. Tell everyone who cares about America about MoveOutCongress.com.
- Pay attention to regular email updates and keep sending messages to your members of Congress and friends.
- Make a contribution (if you can) to help spread the word across America. (This is a strictly non-profit project. All funds go right into the work.)
Sam Adams, the Father of the American Revolution, said it best:
"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds." It is time to rekindle the American spirit. Let us all rally to the Declaration and the Constitution and the principles upon which they stand!
For the sacred right of Liberty we now stand fast.
